Elyssa's Travels

By Taylor Batey

Elyssa Barajas was born into a military family on April 6th, 1996 on an island country in the Middle East called Bahrain. Born a military brat, Elyssa had to endure a life of traveling which began for her when she was only two-years-old. In 1998 Elyssa’s father was stationed in Gulfport, Mississippi where they resided for the next seven years during which time they eventually welcomed Elyssa’s little brother into the world. Elyssa’s next home was in Yokosuka, Japan in 2005 where her and her family stayed for three and a half years. In 2008, Elyssa’s father decided to retire to San Antonio, Texas where he and the rest of Elyssa’s family could be close to his home city which is Houston, Texas. Elyssa attended school in San Antonio, graduating from Randolph High School. She is now pursing a degree in English with an emphasis in film. With no job, Elyssa is able to dedicate her time to schoolwork and activities such as writing, reading and traveling. After Elyssa graduates from Texas State she hopes to one day fulfill her aspirations of being an author so that her writing can connect people of all creeds and lifestyles.
