Through the Lens with Makenzie

Makenzie Harrison:
Sports Media Enthusiast/Photographer Extraordinaire
by Ezra Pena

Hailing from the Texas Panhandle, Senior Makenzie Harrison may have been born in Lubbock but found that her calling for higher education was better suited with Bobcat Nation rather than Red Raider. As an Electronic Media Major with Sports Media and Multimedia Production concentrations, Harrison transferred from Texas Tech to Texas State with her focus on the broadcasting aspect of her ultimate career goal: to be in the control room for ESPN. With that driving force, she has taken part in extracurriculars that will be an asset to her future such as operating scoreboards and replays for the athletics broadcast team and photojournalism at both Texas Tech and Texas State, with the latter leading her to several awards for her unique eye’s view. A hobby that started in high school, Harrison states, “I like to take pictures of things that people don’t always think of as an obvious thing to capture.”

As an avid world traveler with Spain, Germany, Greece, and Japan under her belt (just to name a few), Makenzie has also focused her eye's view towards another goal in the hopes to further travel to Europe to work with the Liverpool Football Club. Combining her exposure and experience with her adventurous travel nature could absolutely lead her to just that.

Until then, her family stays close by her side with her sister as a Freshman and mother as a fellow Senior at Texas State. It has become a family affair that will lead to amazing accomplishments and that much more of an enriching experience; telling and depicting stories through her lens as only she can.
